Local fashion designer seeks local support for new children's label
Fashion designer and Stokey resident Betty Bonhard and her husband Phil are launching a new range of kids’ clothes through Kickstarter.
The couple from N16 are launching BBbambino, handcrafted, organic children’s clothes. They’ve raised more than £3,000 but need just over £3,500 more to get the project going.
Those supporting the project could get their hands on some of the first pieces in the collection.
Betty, who spent many years running a London-based womenswear label, was constantly asked by clients for designer clothes for their little ones – and so BBbambino was born.
She said: “We hand-draw and paint all our motifs. We draw inspiration from fairy tales, fantasy worlds and children’s unlimited imagination. Our first collection was inspired by our lovely Corgi, Ollie and the fun adventures we’ve had with him and his friends.”
The launch of BBbambino follows months of extensive research, sourcing and testing textiles from the best organic-cotton suppliers, designing and making countless prototypes.
The clothes are made from organic cotton, grown without the use of synthetic chemicals and all the production is based in the EU.
Money raised through Kickstarter will help the couple print and manufacture their extended collection, which they hope to take to the international children’s wear show Bubble taking place in London this July.
Supporters will receive items of clothing, names on the BBbambino website and Betty is offering to hand draw the pets of the most generous supporters and create bespoke fabrics and garments.
