Local services for Special Educational Needs

 

This is a new page and we're adding content all the time. The Sensory Hub Club combines therapeutic touch, movement and music in an open sensory rich space. Six sessions running over six weeks take place on Mondays from June 19th till July 24th(10am-11am and 11am-noon)

Where: St Thomas Community Church Space, Oldhill St, N16 Two qualified practitioners in Shiatsu and Craniosacral Therapy adapted for SEN infants. Parents can practice simple techniques that help with good feelings and healthy bonds by learning to work with the sensitivity of their child. Cost: £7 per session. Booking in advance needed.   • The Key runs out of Hackney Ark Resource Centre. It’s a membership service for children and young people, 19 years and under, with difficulties, disability or special educational needs.  Members receive a discount card for local leisure centres, subscription to Laburnum Boat Cub, invitations to courses and services, newsletters, invitations to events and activities and the chance to help shape local services.  It’s open Monday-Friday (10am-6.30pm). What's on in Stokey and nearby:

 

One to one Therapeutic Sessions take place at the Old Fire Station in Leswin Road and The Room at Kings Cross by arrangement on Tuesday and Friday afternoons. The 45 minute sessions combine Shiatsu Therapeutic Touch, Movement and Voice in a multi-sensory play setting. Tots 2 Teens is a wellbeing centre for children aged 4+ and adults.  Services include art and play therapy, music therapy, creative writing, dance movement and talking therapies.  The service is offered at Stamford Hill Library on Portland Avenue and was created for the Orthodox Jewish community but is open to all Hackney residents.

Sessions take place from 10am-8pm Monday-Thursday and 10am-2pm on Fridays.

Laburnum Boat Club is a community boating project offering a sports club for young people (aged 11+)  including those with disabilities and a programme for adults with mental health issues.  It’s at Laburnum Street, E2 8BA.
