Kindermusik launches in Stokey
Melissa Pazzanese, a Brazilian-born musician, is the new kid on the block of Stoke Newington children’s music scene.
She runs Kindermusik – music and movement classes at That Place on the Corner for babies aged newborn to one.
Mell, who has been living in London for 10 years, worked as a chef for Jamie Oliver but yearned to follow a career with children and music.
She said: “At the beginning as a typical foreigner it was quite hard, I worked all kinds of jobs; from a cleaner to chambermaid in a hotel and then finally I became a chef.
“A decade in, I looked at myself in the mirror and thought what am I doing? How am I ever going to get my Music Therapy degree and work in child development? It was time to stop and that’s when I found Kindermusik, or should I say, Kindermusik found me.”
Kindermusik has evolved over the past 30 years and its curriculum is well respected. It is parent orientated and provides fun, bonding time and support for parents and their little ones.
Classes include playing, singing, movement, dance and drumming.
Parents of newborns and babies under six months are offered three months for the price of one and Mell offers everyone a free trial class.
Classes last 45 minutes per week and cost £25 per month, including digital home materials (videos and downloadable songs). Drop in costs £7 and doesn’t include access to digital materials.
