World class violinist launches music classes for pre-schoolers in Stokey

Former Young Violinist of the Year Anastasia Eave who played in the Kremlin at a presidential ceremony is launching violin and piano classes for pre-schoolers in the New Year.

The Russia-born musician, who lives in Stoke Newington, played the violin from the age of four and is determined to use her talent to help local children pick up the musical concepts of rhythm, tempo and dynamics in a fun, interactive way.

Her classes take place in Clissold House from Tuesday January 13th and are open to children aged two to four. Classes last half an hour and four sessions cost £40. Each class will feature singing, rhymes, dancing, making music and listening to a wide range of world instrumental songs live.

Anastasia’s father was a violin teacher and she moved from Moscow to Southern Russia to study at the Tchaikovsky Music School.

She said: “Growing up in a small town I was considered a child prodigy and gave my first solo concert at the age of 10. Many of my performances were shown on the regional TV channels."

While attending the world renowned Gnessin State Musical College Anastasia studied with the prominent Russian violinist and tutor Eduard Grach.

She added: “I am very lucky to work with the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra where I play with some of the best world musicians and conductors.”

In 2004 she won first prize in the Young Violinist of the Year competition and first prize in the National Contest of the North Caucasus 2004, In 2009 she won the Chamber Music of the Romantic Period Competition in Moscow.

She performed in the Kremlin at the Inaugural Ceremony of the 3rd President of Russia Dmitri Medvedev in May 2008.

Now a mother herself, Anastasia’s young daughter Violetta, 3, had mastered the Art of Twinkle Twinkle on the piano at the age of two and a half. She’s beginning to play the violin now and has a keen interest in music.

Classes take place on Tuesdays at 10am for children aged 2-3 and 10.30am for children aged 3-4.
