Fun-loving Stokey mums launch online kids’ shop
Three entrepreneurial mums from Stoke Newington have joined forces to launch a new online children’s clothes, decor and toy shop.
Nicky Westbury (Chief Sub Editor at ASOS), Fiamma Poltock (a former fashion designer of Poltock & Walsh who dressed the likes of Kate Moss and Alexa Chung) and Gemma Morgan (a buyer for Sainsbury’s) have launched Scout & Co in their spare time!! and it’s already going great guns.
The trio have been juggling family life and work with jet-setting to international trade shows to choose products to sell and working to launch the website. Their mission is to choose design-led products which are a stylish alternative to throwaway plastic and stereotypical pink and blue children’s products... all the clothes they sell are unisex.
Nicky said: “We all have different skills to bring and, having been friends for over 10 years, are really excited to be working together. It can be hard juggling work and family and a new business but we can grow Scout & Co at our own pace.
“As soon as the children have gone down for a sleep we get busy processing orders, updating the website and packaging items ready to send. It’s hard work but wonderful to know we’re building our own business.
“Our ethos is fashion and fun – we’re choosing products we think kids and adults will love and toys and decorations that are attractive and will last through to future generations.”
Fiamma added: “We love Stoke Newington and, with so many families living here, it seems like the perfect place to grow this business. We hope to get involved with local events and to explore ways of working with other local companies.”
Brands stocked on the site include Mini Rodini, Little Titans, Beau Love, Design Letters, Ferm Living, Fine Little Day and many more.Items include cute little wooden cameras, gorgeous lunch tins and flasks, wall stickers and there’s something to suit all budgets.
